The Perimeter

Preserving Natural Condition

Type - Visitor Center

Location - Mount Diablo, California

Semester- Fall 2015

Statement

In an effort to preserve the natural state and experience of the site, this visitor’s center aims to minimize its presence to allow its immersive natural surrounding be the main attraction to the visitors.

The visitor center which serves as a resting area, and information center, is buried underneath the hills, serving as an additional circulation that mimics the contour of the site, and allows the visitor to experience the environment both indoor and outdoor. As a result, the building is read as a singular plane that acts as the base of the hill, reducing its presence among its natural surroundings.
